The choice for
web page hosting is immense. You want it to be affordable low cost, but have enough
features to suit your needs. All web hosting services of note usually provide
various packages, from bargain basic to 'more features than you'll ever need'
offers.
Consider the type
of web hosting provider you want based on the traffic your site gets, the resources.
Look for providers that allow scaling up your package (at no cost) when the need
arise. If your site does less than 10,000 visitors a day you can usually get away
with shared webhosting. If you have more than that then many web hosts, although
they mention unlimited bandwidth simply can't afford to let you drag down the
performance of the shared server.
As bandwidth increases,
disk space becomes cheaper, servers become more powerful, each year I see the
basic packages offering more and more. Only 5 years ago, a basic 10 dollar a month
service would maybe give you 10mb space and 500Mb bandwidth. Nowadays, you can
get 40Gb bandwidth and 1000mb space for the same price. Think what you will get
in 5 years from now. Mind boggling!
From my first free
geocities account to the dedicated servers I use today, I've been through close
to 90+ cheap services to host my webpages over the years. There are a small handful
that I still use for some small-medium sites that I want on shared space. All
of these have treated me well through support, provide affordable web hosting,
, good up-time reliability and have been around for many years. Rarely do you
need to worry about data loss as most do daily
or bi-weekly backups.
Lunarpages

clicking the banner. Very affordable web hosting, considering the bandwidth and
servers space on offer.

Globat.com
2000 MB Hosting & 60 GB Transfer for $7.50/mo. including webmail, 2000 POP email
accounts, FrontPage, MySQL, FLASH and more.
Generally, you
can literally spend eons searching for decent hosts. I'd recommend those above
based on my own experiences, but to really research hosts, check out SitePointForums
web host section which has lots of user perspectives.
When you have a
lot of traffic and subsequently take up many resources and bandwidth it becomes
necessary to consider - especially if you want to continue growth of your business
- using a dedicated server.
